Adaobi is from Anambra state, born to the family of late Mr Zephanaih
Nwagbo. She has four siblings, two boys and two girls including herself
and the weight of responsibility rests heavy on her shoulders because
she is the first born. This geology graduate of Ebonyi State University
grew up in the busy riverside town of Onitsha.
So what is a Geology graduate doing in the movie industry instead of in industries like oil.
“It is about passion. This is what i have always had a passion for.
Growing up I watched people like Julia Roberts, who inspired me. I
figured that if they could do what they were doing and were doing so
well in it maybe i can do the same thing also. Right now i get inspired
by actresses like Genevieve Nnaji who I think is absolutely brilliant. I
did not get involved when i wanted to because i came from a strict
Christian background and could not make a move at first until a cousin
of mine broke through. After that i summoned up the courage to tell my
parents what I wanted to do. Incidentally they supported me and here I
am today”
What has journey through the mine fields of Nollywood been like.

“Just like everybody’s own. But we all have individual stories. I am
still on that journey and I keep discovering new ways of doing what I am
doing everyday. I just want to be the best in what I do. I want to be
counted amongst the greats like Mercy Johnson, Angelina Jolie, Majid
Michael, Idris Alba and the rest. This place is a platform that one can
use to position herself in life. This is a launch pad to greatness and I
aim to be the greatest amongst the greats. And I don’t think that is a
bad ambition at all.
