Amayo Uzo Phillips

Amayo Uzo Phillips is a movie maker. He discovered Chinedu Ikedieze(AKI) and Osita Iheme(Pawpaw) He is the producer and director of the record smashing movie AKI AND UKWA, a movie that set the diminutive pair on their way to stardom and revealed their talents to Nigeria nay Africa and the world. Since then Amayo has done many other films which have been huge success like SHERIKOKO.

Amayo has just finished work on his new film OGA ON TOP. A movie that has borrowed its name from the new comedic phenomenon that is sweeping through Nigeria, MY OGA AT THE TOP. We caught up with the graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Jos who resides in the sleepy, serene town of Owerri, Imo State and this is what he had to say about the film and his plans for the rest of the year. AMAYO ON MY OGA AT THE TOP   

 'OGA AT THE TOP' is the phenomenon of the dignified ignorant of our society. People who live in a dynamic and proactive society but refuse to run with the times. Education should not only happen at school, but people must endeavour to keep up with happenings around them to maintain a consistency in the upgrading of their general knowledge.

AMAYO ON THE RELATION BETWEEN MY OGA AT THE TOP AND OGA ON TOP

 'OGA AT THE TOP' is related to my new movie 'OGA ON TOP' in story content because one character in the movie 'Philip', played by Nkem Owoh, though in a dynamic society remains in his cocoon of deliberate ignorance. I am surprised though that people have made diverse comments & remarks about the movie without actually taking any notice of the difference in the captions 'OGA AT THE TOP' & 'OGA ON TOP'.

OGA ON TOP' is a hilarious comedy sporting actors like Nkem Owoh, Funke Akindele, Roy Denani, Uchenna Nnanna, Rechael  and Vivian Oyakhire. The movie should be expected in the market before the end of May on the ONYEZE PRODUCTIONS label.

AMAYO ON HIS PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR

 Majorly I have planned to organize and run my production company WHITE THRONE FILMS LTD in full gear this year. This means, productions & distributions. I plan to discover more talents in the areas of writing and acting through my script writing competitions and comedy talent hunt projects. I plan to unveil and activate my movie distribution network that has been in the mould for the past 8 years now. It promises to be one of the biggest & more effective, people oriented movie distribution networks in Africa. Finally, we have introduced the IMPROMULTI COOPERATIVE SOCIETY for people who desire to build their careers in Nollywood without the attending frustrations from the IM(IMMA NMADU-Who do you know) and the PAY-BEFORE-SERVICE syndrome which presently pervades the industry. Members of the co-operative, are macro investors who pool funds together to make movies in partnership with a movie production and distribution company. Thus they build their careers as actors & crew, & also share profits from their investments. No sexual harassments and no marginalization
